RT-201 Power/Comms Training

This five-day course covers fundamental troubleshooting techniques for Schilling ROV systems in a controlled classroom environment. It includes both lectures and hands-on practical exercises with similar devices currently used offshore. Key topics include power basics, serial and network communications, fiber basics, topside computer integrations, GUI familiarization, Node Changer, DTS viewer, device tunneling, and telemetry system overview.

Students will engage in daily practical exercises such as checking resistance on random parts, integrating topside computers, configuring subsea nodes, integrating and configuring subsea components into the Schilling network. The course culminates into a comprehensive practical exercise where students will configure and integrate a complete “ROV system” while troubleshooting random induced issues that students will have to work through to successfully get power and comms to the provided subsea components.

Prerequisites: PT2 out of SSE status and above positions
Duration: 5 days

As part of the hands-on RT-201 Troubleshooting Training, technicians are testing equipment power in one of the Training Test Bed.

As part of the hands-on LT-101 Longline training, a student is navigating the system’s GUI to check fiber light levels.

LT-101 Power/Fiber Longline Training

This five-day course provides ROV technicians with a focus on critical thinking and troubleshooting process, as it relates to the Power and Fiber Longline of the Schilling ROV systems. Encompasses hands-on simulations with real equipment for all of the current Schilling ROV systems that are currently being used, Gen 2, HD, and Gen 3 Schilling systems. This includes an in-depth understanding of the IPA, IPDS, and Ground Fault Monitoring systems and diagnostics that are associated with these systems.

Students will develop skills in Power and Fiber Longline operation and troubleshooting using two different test bed configurations: an indoor setup featuring mock-up junction boxes with GEN 2 IPAs and VICORS, and a second setup incorporating a decommissioned HD system, with IPDSs.

Prerequisites: PT1 and above positions
Duration: 5 days

Our SIM-201 ROV Simulator Training offers ROV pilot training using a state-of-the-art simulator, allowing students to learn how to hone their ROV piloting skills in a virtual environment.

SIM-201 ROV Simulator Training

This three-day course provides ROV pilot training using a virtual simulator. It includes a complete setup with pilot and co-pilot chairs, a GUI interface, HUD displays, rack components, tooling pods, with Atlas and T-4 manipulator controls.

Training begins with Hammerhead GUI familiarization and progresses to basic subsea piloting skills, including undocking/docking the ROV from the TMS, tether management and manipulator functionality. Students will then complete multiple scenarios to enhance their piloting and co-piloting skills for the Schilling GEN 3/HD ROV systems, similar to what they may encounter on current jobs including BOP installation, tree installation, tree lock down and test, BOP intervention, pipeline inspection, windfarm anode inspections and other scenarios.

Prerequisites: PT2 out of SSE and above positions
Duration: 3 days

HOW DO WE ADEQUATELY TRAIN OUR INTERNATIONAL EMPLOYEES?

Our U.S.-based training department has developed a robust online training catalog that allows our international technicians to attend class virtually. This ensures they are receiving the same level of training as our U.S.-based ROV crews. Our training department utilizes this same process for international new hires.
